Does a Healthy Diet Really Make a Difference?

For the last 15 years, Cenegenics has emphasized a healthy diet as part of an overall program to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke, as well as a variety of chronic conditions. But does it really make a difference? It certainly does in people over 55 with established heart disease or diabetes according to a recent study published in Circulation – The Journal of the American Heart Association.

This was a huge study of over 31,000 men and women from 40 countries with heart disease or diabetes who were already on standard medications to reduce the risk of complications. Those with better diets had an astounding 35% reduction in the risk of death from cardiovascular causes and 19% reduction in the risk of stroke! This association was observed across a broad range of countries and cultures.

If a healthy diet reduces the risk of future events in people with known cardiovascular disease, it’s certainly not a stretch to think that it will do the same in those without disease. Just don’t forget the other pieces of the puzzle. Combining a healthy diet with appropriate exercise, directed nutritional supplementation, and correction of metabolic and hormonal deficiencies results in a lower risk of degenerative diseases, more energy, and a better quality of life.
